Carpet cleaning marketing that mails the offer and runs the Facebook campaign beside it

Carpet cleaning marketing from MBI is customer acquisition for a carpet-cleaning company: a direct-mail offer campaign printed as postcards, direct-mail letters, self-mailers or flyers, with a Facebook campaign coordinated with that mailing and digital follow-up for the people who respond to it or visit from it.

Carpet cleaning marketing

What is carpet cleaning marketing?

The short answer

Carpet cleaning marketing is customer acquisition for a carpet-cleaning company. Two campaigns carry it: a direct-mail offer campaign, printed as a postcard, a direct-mail letter, a self-mailer or a flyer, and a Facebook campaign coordinated with that mailing. MBI plans, prints, mails and advertises the same offer.

The two documented campaigns. The two documented campaign concepts for this trade are a carpet-cleaning direct-mail offer campaign, and a Facebook campaign coordinated with a direct-mail campaign.

One team. MBI is one company that plans, produces, and delivers direct mail, print and digital campaigns from a single team in DeLand, Florida; data, print, and delivery have been in-house since 1989.

Direct mail

What does carpet cleaning direct mail carry to a household?

The short answer

An offer, aimed at customer acquisition. Carpet-cleaning direct mail reaches a household that has not booked the company yet, and the piece can be a postcard, a direct-mail letter, a self-mailer or a flyer. MBI plans the drop, prints the piece and mails it, so one team answers for the campaign.

The documented formats. Evidence supports carpet-cleaning direct-mail campaigns, including postcard, letter, self-mailer, and flyer formats for customer acquisition.

USPS Domestic Mail Manual 602.5 provides that each address, except for mail bearing an alternative address format, in a mailing at commercial First-Class Mail presorted or automation prices or USPS Marketing Mail prices is subject to the Move Update standard, and that each address and associated addressee used on the mailpieces in a mailing must be updated within 95 days before the mailing date with one of the USPS-approved methods, among them Address Change Service (ACS) and the National Change of Address Linkage System (NCOALink).

Postcard sizes

What size do carpet cleaning postcards have to be to mail at card prices?

The short answer

A postcard claimed at commercial card prices must be no more than 6 inches high, no more than 9 inches long and no thicker than 0.016 inch. MBI prints the carpet-cleaning piece inside that standard. A card more than 4-1/4 inches high or 6 inches long has to be at least 0.009 inch thick.

USPS Domestic Mail Manual 201.1.2.1 requires each stamped card or postcard, or each half of a double stamped card or postcard, claimed at a card price to be not less than 3-1/2 inches high, 5 inches long and 0.007 inch thick, with cards more than 4-1/4 inches high or 6 inches long, or both, a minimum of 0.009 inch thick; not more than 4-1/4 inches high, 6 inches long or 0.016 inch thick for each stamped card or each half of a double-stamped card or double postcard; not more than 6 inches high, 9 inches long or 0.016 inch thick for each postcard; rectangular, with four square corners and parallel opposite sides; and within an aspect ratio (length divided by height) of 1.3 to 2.5, inclusive.

Why do carpet cleaning Facebook ads run alongside the mailing?

The short answer

Because the mailing does not have to be the household's only contact. Facebook advertising is recommended alongside direct mail, and digital follow-up stays on the people who respond to the mail campaign or visit from it. One team runs the drop and the Facebook campaign against the same carpet-cleaning offer.

The documented recommendation. A carpet-cleaning marketing source recommends Facebook advertising alongside direct mail and digital follow-up for people who respond to or visit from the mail campaign.

Meta's Advertising Standards prohibit ads promoting products, services, schemes or offers using deceptive or misleading practices, including those meant to scam people out of money or personal information, and state that advertisers are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

Printing

Can carpet cleaning flyers carry the mailed offer?

The short answer

Yes. A carpet-cleaning offer campaign can run on a flyer, or on a postcard, a direct-mail letter or a self-mailer — all four carry the offer for customer acquisition. MBI prints the flyer and mails it, so the printed piece and the mailing are one job rather than two suppliers.

The formats. The print formats documented for this trade are postcards, direct-mail letters, self-mailers and flyers.

The FTC's advertising FAQ for small business states that under the law, “Advertising must be truthful and non-deceptive; Advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims; and Advertisements cannot be unfair,” and that an ad is deceptive if it contains a statement — or omits information — that is likely to mislead consumers acting reasonably under the circumstances and is “material”, that is, important to a consumer's decision to buy or use the product.

Questions

Questions a carpet cleaning company asks before it mails

Searched for carpet cleaning advertising, marketing for carpet cleaning companies or carpet cleaner marketing? Same work, same answers.

  1. What are the two campaigns behind carpet cleaning marketing?

Two concepts, run as one job: a carpet-cleaning direct-mail offer campaign, and a Facebook campaign coordinated with a direct-mail campaign. MBI plans the offer campaign, prints the piece and mails it, then runs the Facebook side of it, so both belong to one team rather than to a printer and an agency.

  2. Who prints the carpet cleaning mailer, and who mails it?

One team, one roof. MBI is one company that plans, produces and delivers direct mail, print and digital campaigns from a single team in DeLand, Florida, and data, print and delivery have been in-house since 1989. The printing is commercial printing produced in house, from a short run to a full production run.

  3. What moves the price of a carpet cleaning mailing up or down?

A carpet cleaning mailing has no list price. Every quote resolves to two costs, producing the carpet-cleaning piece and mailing it, and seven decisions move those two numbers, among them quantity, format and finished size, paper, and postage and sortation. /capabilities/direct-mail/direct-mail-cost walks through all seven before artwork is finalised.

  4. Who does the digital follow-up stay with after the carpet cleaning mailing lands?

The people who respond to the mail campaign, and the people who visit from it. Facebook advertising is recommended alongside the direct mail itself, and the digital follow-up stays with that narrower group, so a household that responded to the carpet-cleaning offer hears from you again rather than once.

  5. What has to be true before a carpet cleaning offer goes in an ad?

The offer has to be backed. FTC guidance for small business says advertising must be truthful and non-deceptive, advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims, and advertisements cannot be unfair; an ad is deceptive when a statement or omission is likely to mislead consumers acting reasonably under the circumstances and is material to the buying decision.

  6. How current does the address file have to be before a carpet cleaning drop?

Within 95 days. USPS requires each address in a mailing at commercial First-Class Mail presorted or automation prices, or USPS Marketing Mail prices, to be updated within 95 days before the mailing date by an approved method, among them Address Change Service and NCOALink; mail bearing an alternative address format is excepted.

  7. What does Facebook expect from a carpet cleaning advertiser?

Meta's Advertising Standards provide that ads must not promote products, services, schemes or offers using identified deceptive or misleading practices, including those meant to scam people out of money or personal information, and that advertisers are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
